Wow.
This was quite a week. For those of you who didn't get the chance to
make it up, there are some posts already, I see, relating to some of
what was on the floor. I'll hold my thoughts on the displays, for the
moment, but comment on the really nice comments we received from so
many on the floor about what we have been doing for the past year on
this list, the Lunch Gathering, the Transmission Seminar and, of
course, Radio Guide.
Although some of you are aware of some trepidation we had relating to
the Riviera Hotel and our 15th Annual Lunch Gathering, all ended up
working out well. The manager was quite happy to see us this year.
The initial reports were that the food and service was much improved
this year over some previous years.
But the big deal was the group that showed up. It sure seemed like
we had more folks than ever before ... many old friends - and a whole
bunch of new ones! (Next year I have GOT to get a microphone and
speaker!) By the way, the restaurant manager also offered to set the
tables in a better arrangement, so we can get more of the group
seated in the same area.
We tried to do a "spread" on the door prizes this year, and I think
we had as wide a variety as we have ever had - from the sweater vests
from Orban to the gear bags/T-Shirts/caps from Comrex, to a brand new
Radiosophy HD100 radio, their second model. Radiosophy will have
these, list priced at $119 (and sold for $99 during the show - you
might get the price still, if you call/write them and mention Radio
Guide) in stored shortly. Shively and Prophet Systems (RCS) also
contributed goodies, including a 15% discount coupon for the NAB
Handbook, just released in its new edition.
We also had
a copy of Office 2007 from Microsoft,
a Dymo LabelWriter Turbo 400,
a couple of toolkits other goodies from Neural Audio
Flash Drives and more from BE,
a couple of headset amplifiers courtesy of RDL (the stick-on folks)
some 2007 Antenna Calendars from Scott Fybush
a couple of neat CD storage units from
a CardScan multi-user "team" edition of their great card
scanning system
a Radio Shack project case.
and more....
Plus! Everyone at lunch went home with their choice of a calculator
notepad or DVM, complete with a complete case, courtesy of Radio
Guide Magazine.
All in all, it was a great Lunch Gathering ... and seeing some of
your comments on the list ... I just have to say "Thanks, folks! It
all turns out well because you all care and are part of the effort!
thanks again
