Chuck,
What you could do, (if the PD knows what he's doing) is to have him
remove the AC power from the XR 12, remove the back cover, and have him
take a hair dryer and apply the warm air to the components. This will
put you a little a head of making repairs.
I had this same thing happen to me with a Harris/Gates 1 rig, with a
leak in the roof, right over the tx. I was lucky and only blew a blower
circuit control board that shuts down the PA's if there is a temp rise.
I bypassed the card and got the transmitter back up and running until I
could get in another card from Harris.

Subject: [BC] One of those 3 AM calls!
I was snoozing away at my room in the Hilton, when the PD of KDLG-AM in
Dillingham, Alaska called to inform me that they had gone off the air
during
a storm. His visit to the site showed roof damage and water running
into
the brand new XR 12 Nautel transmitter. So it was back to Alaska on
Wednesday. They are back on the air using their Nautel AMFET 10
standby.
Roof is repaired, and I will be on my way out there shortly.
No rest for the wicked.
