To confuse matters even further, there's also the audio term "dBu", an
abbreviation for "decibels unloaded" relative to 0.775 volts RMS
across a high impedance (bridging) load.  As most of you know, this is
equivalent to 1 mW ( 0 dBm) into 600 ohms.

While we're on the subject of decibels, I've often wondered why we
don't adopt the term "dB$" to measure profit, loss, pay increases,
etc.  After all, money tends to affect many people (especially CEOs)
in a logarithmic manner, in accordance with the Weber-Fechner law.
Maybe a good topic for AF someday?
