The beauty of the BC-7/A and BC-8 is that only the program amps require the 
upgrade -- okay the mic and monitor amps too but that's easily accomplished 
through the use of a high-quality external power amp and modern mic channel 
strip.

The input line modules on this RCA series are all R and transformer passive 
and as Bob pointed out, a balanced mix buss was created.
