Equally as elegant was RCA's use of Amphenol Blue-Ribbon connectors which, 
allowed for the quick replacement of all mic amps and power supply.   Not 
many late ca. 1960s designs were as modular as the BC-7/A and BC-8.   With 
op-amp upgrades to the program and mic amps, those consoles are still 
capable of world-class analog performance.  In its day, Gates had nothing 
close to this series.
