Your engineer should be on the up and up on this and should be able to answer
and resolve any issue regarding the Marti setup and license. Generally you
would contact your local frequency coordinator [contact your local chapter of
SBE for who that person is in your region] and also most coordinators would be
able to point you in the direction you need to go for licensing requirements as
well. Check what frequencies are available before you buy. If you buy a VHF
Marti and find out that only UHF RP frequencies are available, then you have
gear that you spent money for that you can not use.
Also Martis are good for local around town type coverage for remotes...but
can be used out to 20 miles if both the transmitting and receive antennas have
some height to them.
As for the license issue....I think someone brought up a point about hours of
usage verses the need for a license. I would always error on the side of
getting a license. This way, regardless of number of hours used etc etc etc, no
one can claim that your RP is illegal, plus it secures to an extent, the use of
that frequency for your station. Any interference issues can be addressed and
you'll have some "legal ground" to stand on. Otherwise if you have no license
and run into co-channel and/or adjacent channel interference, then chances of
you having to cease operations with that Marti increase.
Always......
