Luckily, Dallas is a mostly flat city. All remotes were supposed to be on
my books by 1 week out (most were in a month out because we were that busy),
and we just knew what areas were good. If we didn't, then usually we could
send a tech out to do a shot check. Our receive sites were at Cedar Hill
(2), just north of downtown (3), Grapevine (2), Van Alystine, and Mountain
Springs. There were several times I went back to the station and said we
couldn't do the show because of not enough signal; about half the time the
client agreed to an ISDN. Those who didn't either changed locations, or
didn't get a remote.
POTS codecs were NOT allowed on the air for a long-form broadcast (more than
call-ins)

Chris:
What was your procedure to determine link requirements ahead
of broadcast?
