[BC] AOL issues

I tried to install Earthlink DSL after Verizon DSL __REFUSED__ to supply DSL because that said the CO was 9,000 kilofeet when, in fact it was less than a mile. The real reason was that their cables were so bad they wouldn't work for POTS and they were planning to install fiber in the next 20 to 30 years so they weren't about to maintain the lines. Anyway.... It is __IMPOSSIBLE__ to remove the Earthlink software (which didn't work). I used regedit, registry mechanic, all the brute-force techniques I could find (search the registry and remove any keys thay point to anything like "earthlink" after I used their "uninstall." Anyway, when I go to use 'google' there is a "stored" link of "abominab at earthlink.net," even if I delete EVERYTHING in my home directory and start from scratch! They don't answer their mail and they "refuse" registered letters!

So I had to go to expensive Comcast which meant I had to install cable which I didn't want for TV (I get perfectly-good HDTV off-the--air.
