As an owner of an Electric Car conversion
(www.bobgroome.com and bottom link for photos), I
pay about $5.50 / month to charge the car. That's
a bit cheaper than $30 to 40 just for gas for my
wifes Kia. Imagin the cost for a bigger car. It's
a 'local' car as the range is short 40 to 50
miles but top speed is 65 MPH. We do need better
batteries (affordable) or fule cells to give more
range. My car plugs into regular 120 V (15 amp)
outlet so can charge anywhere.
On the polution front; it is eaiser (in theory)
to control the emissions at one site (power
plant) than all the cars (thousands and
thousands). So, I agree it's a step in the right
direction but we have a ways to go to get off the
forien oil dependance.
Bob, now off the soap box.
