In a broadcast situation I think that is a great idea. Of course, using it
as I will in an Amateur Radio environment it's not necessary.

I recall those years back when I had to 'mother' 8008's, 875's etc etc.
In those days stations signed off at Midnight and back on at 6 AM...
The DJ usually got there about 5 minutes prior to air-time and did
not understand the nature of these beasts when they were cold...
besides...its was not - his - job to go to the transmitter to reset
the breaker!
There had to be a better way -
That turned out to be a simple mod to the transmitter that kept
the filaments of the Merc-Vapors on (in some cases at reduced
voltage). Thus the fussy tubes stayed warm and leaped to live
upon Plate-On without tripping the breaker.
