I don't know how much truth there is to it, but one thing
that might have been a factor was supposedly a Chinese
order for acres and acres of sheet copper for roofing their
entire Olympic facilities. Seems a little farfetched to me,
but it was rumored to be a huge quantity. Of course as
China's industry grows larger plants the electrical
infrastructure of the whole country must expand and that
probably will put a heavier load on world supplies.
