[BC] IBOC Query

Several years ago, an FCC commissioner was a guest at the Alaska
Broadcasters Association annual meeting. He said, "The analog turnoff for
radio will not be like digital tv. It will be up to each station to decide
if and when they want to turn off the analog." We do have some bridges that
we would like to sell located in Ketchikan and the Knik Arm. Interested?

Subject: [BC] IBOC Query

I know that the FCC at lest proffers the idea that we are going to be
turning down all of the analog TC signals at some time in the future. But
they are not so clear on all of the questions that broadcasters are asking.

My question concerns 'the on-air' radio method of digital. Since IBOC is a
hybrid system, what is the talk (time frame) about doing away with the
analog and keeping the digital only?

Every station would be able to compete better if it were the case that all
stations became digital at one time, but obviously a large number of AM'ers
may not be around to see the collapse of analog.

So does anyone have a good guess or offer a good article worth reading about

the timeframe till the all digital IBOC?

Thanks
