When I was at an NBC station, we had two live trucks that were both setup so
they would not drive if the mast was up.  Each employee that drove the live
trucks were required to go through some pretty intense training, and be
tested monthly.  This was after a truck was destroyed downtown a few years
ago.  The mast was left up while they drove it into a stop light tearing out
the mast, ripping up most of the van and equipment. The driver survived but
had to find work the next day.
