The strange connection on all ads all the time is that the station (1400
kHz San Luis Obispo) was owned by Homer Odom, who used to work for
McLendon. I started there in 1970. The station had changed hands a couple
times by the time the automated advertising format came on. To fill the
time, they gave away a bunch of free ads (using an 800 number). I rarely
heard the 900 number mentioned.
