That happened to me once, Rich. I was fired because I refused to work in a
death trap transmitter alone.

....And I know engineers who have been electrocuted because they tried to do
so. It almost happened to me a few times, until I got wise.

Getting fired in 21st Century radio is almost a given. It's not a 
matter of if, but when. I have friends who have been fired for being 
unwilling to risk their lives just to keep a transmitter on the air.
