Except that iPods can hold one's *entire* music collection, and any song can 
be accessed instantaneously. There are no inherent quality restrictions as 
with a cassette player; you can store your music with lossless data compression 
or even linear, for instance.

As of last quarter iPod sales were still rising exponentially, an amazing 
feat for a technology that is several years old. They do not appear to be even 
close to market saturation yet. I'd be really curious if someone has done a 
study of their speed of market penetration history vis a vis the Walkman's.

IMHO, iPods are really a few levels beyond a Walkman. Maybe someday I'll buy 
one for myself. :-)
