I don't buy that this is a zero-sum game. Just because someone is a
satellite subscriber doesn't mean they've rejected terrestrial radio.
I'll bet if you were to go to MD and look at the diaries in any
market you'd probably find we share audience the same way we share
with other technologies. I have two subscriptions to each service,
yet I also listen to radio. It's one of the reasons I don't
understand radio's IBUZ panic.

I live in a market where McRadio dominates, for sure. I miss all news
radio. The News/Talk station here is FOX news so there's nothing
credible there and the closest real news source is WBZ, 100 miles
away. TV is the news source here. If there were an emergency, I have
no idea where I'd tune. Probably TV. In New York it was a no-brainer,
WINS, first, then WCBS. There once was talk about originating local
news from Hartford. That would be like covering New York City from
Bridgeport, CT. It was gong to be a Metro/Shadow Traffic type service.

Fortunately, I'm in an area where there's a good local paper and the
NY Times, Boston Globe and WSJ are available in their city editions
daily. I don't know of any satellite subscriber who has removed their
radio from the car.
