[BC] Pushing too hard

Regular TV has an aspect ratio of 4:3 (horiz:vertical)
DTV has an aspect ratio of 16:9, which makes it 'wider' then analog TV.
Therefore, the vertical will have to be narrower - which they do by putting
black at the top and bottom of the picture. It's commonly seen with many
films shown on TV. This is called letterboxing.

Dish TV will do the digital to analog conversion for you, Steve. You won't
notice a thing different on "analog die day" - except perhaps a few
channels
  now running in letterboxes.

Well this is good news. I don't know if you can answer this for me. I like
Turner Classic Movies. Now when you say Letterbox, this wouldn't include them
or would it? Now that I think about it they just run the movies in their
original format. I take it you're referring to stations other than those who
uplink? Locals with network affiliations? Hope I made this clear. Honestly,
I've not kept up on the HDTV thing so I'm a bit "thin" in the information
department.

  Thanks for your input!
