[BC] New HD radio

My DX radio is a re-capped 1970's Delco analog 5 button AM car radio bought at
Savers for 2 dollars. For an antenna I use a Palomar Engineering amplified
loopstick that also has a preselector. The speaker is a GE 2 way mobile unit.
This combination is quite sensitive, selective and directional. The speaker's
response is tailored for a response of about 300-5kHz.

It is the best DX setup I've ever used. By the way, these old car radios also
make great EAS receivers - I've rack mounted a few of them. Just make sure you
change out their electrolytic caps or else they'll motorboat someday (as my
Delco did when I first turned it on).

No excuse on their part. I can show you a 1962 Grundig Majestic that won't
have that problem ;)
