[BC] Overcoming coverage problems

Maybe the FCC could launch an Emergency Announcements Satellite that
spot beams vital information to affected areas. Maybe it could do so
on AM/AM-IBOC/FM/FM-IBOC/TV/DTV/XM/Sirius/DBS simultaneously (as long
as I'm indulging a fantasy). Then we don't have to worry about what
IBOC does to terrestrial coverages.

Time for my meds.

Nope, it.. sucks. Have you made some off air recordings (perhaps noting
location and sig strength) ? Just curious.

After Rita and particularly, Katrina, having good out of market coverage
was critical to folks knowing what was up in their former home town. The
remaining broadcasters banded together got the word and news out. The
ability to receive 890 hundreds of miles away was important.

I don't think we should throw this feature of AM away.
