I cannot tell you how many times I've been told that by it's very
nature spread spectrum or frequency hopping is immune from
interference and (also) by it's very nature will not cause
interference. Recently I've started receiving calls from production
houses that they are experiencing dropouts in their digital wireless
cameras and microphones operating in the 5.8 GHz region. Quite often
I find that it's the result of cordless phones and other devices
operating nearby in these bands. Wireless laptops used on production
sites are quite in fashion. Signals are signals no matter their
duration. With higher throughput the interference looks even longer
in duration. The spectrum is loading up nicely and the noise floor is rising.
