I believe Tom Merriman was the founder of CRC, one of the other real pioneer
jingle houses. There also seemed to be a lot of cross-pollination between
competitors--musicians who'd play one session for one company in the
afternoon,
then in the evening or the next day play a session for another.

Tom Merriman had a country western band on KLIF in Dallas. In the early
'50's. I believe it was Don Keyes who got the band to record some jingles for
KLIF in 1952-53. Don Keyes has a web site that mentions this or maybe in som
other McLendon bios.

Regarding CRC Commercial Recording Corporation, CRC it was owned by John
Coyle. John was in advertising and later with associates put KVIL-AM-FM on in
Highland Park & Dallas. I know Merriman and many others probably worked
there or he may have started it.

PAMS, CRC, FUTURSONIC and many others at one time did 84% of the nations
radio jingles.
