I remember going into electronics stores when XM was first launched, and
they all had full displays with receivers and brochures and salespeople
who knew plenty about it. In fact many of them already knew about Sirius
months before it was actually launched. But here we are, over three years
after IBOC got on the air, and there are still no receivers in stores and
not even any salespeople who know anything about it... which makes it all
the more frustrating that we've spend three years bashing our heads over
the IBOC issue, and yet Joe Public doesn't even know it exists!

FYI: In 1986, over 30% of all new cars came with AM Stereo-equipped
radios. Now here we are in 2006, and the amount of new cars with
IBOC-equipped radios is so small that it's not even measurable. And the
only car currently offered with an IBOC receiver is the $65,000+ BMW
7-series... whereas back in the '80s, even the Yugo was offered with an AM
Stereo-
capable radio (OEM by Sparkomatic)!
