Remember that the classic "77 WABC" melody is itself a ripoff, of "I'll
Take Manhattan" by Richard Rodgers...a melody for which ABC paid
Rodgers' estate quite handsomely.  I don't recall hearing if PAMS had to
pay the estate for any other stations that used the same melody, but
IIRC the litigation between ABC and the Rodgers estate took over a
decade to resolve.
