At WLAD, Danbury, CT we use KLZ Innovations software for two
news gathering workstations and the on-air news booth. The audio is
edited and stored for playback during the newscasts which air each half
hour during daytime hours (M-Sat & Sun AM) as well as AP stories
and locally produced and written stories. We have a separate computer
to capture audio from CNN and the CT Radio Network. This is linked
to all news workstations. We previously used WireReady
for AP wire only. I am pleased with support from both vendors.
At WNHU, Univ of New Haven we used Burli for AP wire capture.
I was also pleased with their support. News gathering has evolved to
where a field reporter can edit a story and send it via IP to the station
without the need to travel back to the station to do so. Software features
range from simple to complex depending on the station's needs.
