Although his show technically is automated (voice-tracked), Jack Armstrong
on KB-1520 squeezes out ten times as much "live" personality as you get
from a typical FM jock. And KB does have very good audio; I recently
heard them play the Righteous Brothers hit "(You're My) Soul and
Inspiration" and it was living proof that the Phil Spector "wall of sound"
sounds best on AM. On FM, these type of songs sound pompously
over-produced, but on a good AM receiver they sound rich and majestic,
with a powerful mid-range presence.
