It is really a skinny pipe. It is a little more than 1 percent of the original 
HDTV signal.  Compared to SD which is 270 megabits in house, it is still skinny. 
  Compared to contribution feeds which are often 43 megabits for both SD and HD 
it is still skinny. It is about the max you can reliably stuff into a 6 MHz 
channel and have reasonably reliable broadcast quality. The cable guys can to a 
little better than twice that data rate in 6 MHz channel because they have 
better control over the transmission channel.
