Barry,

Like the Betamax, I think Sony is going to shoot itself in the foot once
again. (The rootkit issue notwithstanding- that alone may have cost them more than
they can ever fully recover from.)

I bought a Creative "Zen" player for my Wife for C'mas. She loves it. 6G
storage, holds about 1500 songs at 160Kbps. (It has just over 1300 on it , now.)
It also includes an FM receiver which isn't half bad. Yes, the earbud wire is
the antenna. It also has some simple DSP, including a "smart volume" feature &
graphic EQ. Wonderful ittle unit, about 1/3 the thickness of a pack of cancer
sticks, and about the size of a credit card. Amazing. The most difficult
things to master are the touch-sensitive control panel and the menus.

I read the articles about the inventor of the "Walkman" and found it
interesting... wasn't sure what comments I could have added, thought it was pretty
self-explanatory. Perhaps others felt the same way. It was very interesting,
though. I'm sure he got more than enough to retire in Tahiti. ;)

Willie...
