Yup! What had happened.. 2nd day on the job. 98.3 had this really weird
sound on the air.. not a hum, something bad. Turned off the transmitter
(a less than 2 year old Continental). Checked things. When I went to put
it back on air, no watts. The exciter had failed.
I was sort of scrambling.. luckily a Digit was handy and working. That is
what is still on the air. While the other guys were there, we had checked
for interference on the STL path. When we were done and fired up the
transmitter is when the 802B failed.
Later in the year, another 802B failed - voltage regulator on the PA in
the Exciter. Still under warranty.
Then #3.. an FX-30.. output filter shorted.
2005 was my year for exciter problems.
