Ah, but no longer avant-garde! #1 of what? - a shrinking, sinking
medium? 'Underground' is now 'classic'. What a revolting development!
Bellbottoms and bongs have been replaced by slacks, Cadillacs and
country clubs. Ewww ...
As I am now well into my seventh decade, I am somewhere between
'classic' and 'vintage' myself, so I am not criticizing the format.
My comment is that broadcast has lost its 'edge', doesn't know it,
and doesn't care.
The trend-setting generation of the present does not have radio even
on its horizon. iPods are not being filled from radio.
