Speaking of last days at a station.......
Back around 1976 or so I had a friend, Bill Mendoza (Bill Mann, your Country
Gentleman) who was a Jock at WEXL in Royal Oak Michigan.
WEXL was changing formats from country to religious.
Bill was offered a severe wage reduction if he wanted to stay on at the
station and spin hymns.
The Last day he dressed up as a priest, locked himself in the control room
and continuously played "One more drink and then I'm gone".
It took station staff about an hour to figure out which circuit breaker to
open to kill the board. It made the Detroit papers.
