I can believe that Dana gets XM indoors directly from the sats. I do
in my one-story house which has brick walls. I'll admit that the
ceiling insulation doesn't have foil backing.
A "sweet spot" is the fireplace mantle. I only get the eastern
sattelite on the mantle. I'm in Maryland. There is a repeater a few
miles from me, but it's too marginal to contribute to the recovered
signal with the antenna on the mantle. I think the repeater is the one
on a tall building near Montgomery Mall / WMAL xmtr.
I'm surprised at the assertion that XM has no repeaters in RI. There
are dozens in the DC/Balto area. Some are very directional.

While incorrect in detail, gives an idea of the number. Not shown on
the map, there is one near XM's hdqtrs as well as another near the
Maine Ave. waterfront. A friend has access to the roofs of a number of
DC buildings and found a new XM rptr on one about a year ago.
