[BC] Lincoln Automatic Turntable...

Back when I was a little kid of about ten, my folks had friends who
had this fancy home with a built in music system in a closet. The
record player was made by a company named Lincoln. It had a really
tall spindle and the thing would take records off of one stack, move
them to the spindle and lower them. After that record finished it
would either pick the record up over the tall spindle and turn it
over and play the other side, or move it to the second, finished
stack or go get another record from the first stack. Well, this
thing had a problem. the records would sometimes hang up on the long
spindle. My assignment was to fix it(!). I did and afterwards it
worked just fine.

So, part way through a nice dinner with pleasant music in the
background I heard this horrific crash and the sound of records being
"Busted" in half (or more pieces). It turned out the beast had
misjudged where the spindle was and started smashing records over the
spindle. It went through about ten records before I could get to it,
gape in absolute amazement and unplug it. For some reason my memory
is sort of blank beyond that.
