I think the confusion comes from the ELP website, where they state that the
laser TT will not reproduce Edison-style hill-and-dale (vertical cut)
discs. This is because the groove angles of these old records are not at a
45 degree angle; they are much steeper and the laser TT optical system is
not designed for this angle. However, if someone chose to cut a vertical
record with a modern stereo cutter, the laser TT would have no trouble
tracking it.
