IIRC, high level plate modulated, which was probably why KDAY bought one ...
it already had a plate-modulated Gates 10 kW, and that Amplifuzz wasn't the
easiest Tx to maintain, although because of KDAY being licensed to Santa Monica,
but having its studios in L.A. (later Santa Monica, then back to L.A. at the
new Tx site), it always had an operator at the Tx, but his job was spinning
records and mounting tapes, as the jock in L.A. would do the voice-over, but he
program audio actually came from the Tx, thereby getting around the regs as to
50 percent or more of the total programming ... of whatever type ...
originating either: 1) within the COL (almost never happened), 2) at the Tx (the usual
case, especially after the move to Effie St), or remote (the L.A. studio,
hence the jock).
