  Now, now! The past few places in which I was involved in an actual
music-based board (air) shift, I was taught that we're supposed to say,
"I'll see what I can do" and then to ignore the request. To actually
play it would severely (maybe) upset the smooth rotation of the music
playlist.

  I've even worked for PD's who would hire a friend to call with some
pretty serious "sob story" about the breakup of a marriage (or some such
goobledy-gook) and how "my wife will come back if I can get the song
played". Then, if the board-op plays the song, guess who gets fired.

  Perhaps this is why WWV so very adamantly refuses to play the "47
minutes past the hour" cut just after the "12 minutes past the hour"
cut.  ;-)
