For another set up, I added a $100 Behringer 6 channel analog mixer. 

This has a fixed "tape" out (RCA), a Control Room out, and a headphone
out. 

That and the myriad of inputs (mic, line, mono inserts) gave me enough
connections, and was easier than wiring up a switchbox type arrangement.
This little mixers are actually quite handy.
