AFAIK, Altec "took over" the console business from Western Electric. The
Altec 230 closely resembles the WE-26.
I have an Altec...which looks like a 250. While I'm not completely sure of
the history of this board, I have been led to believe that this is the
original board from WGKA(AM-FM)/Atlanta, later sold to
WLBA(AM)-WWQT(FM)/Gainesville, Georgia. Apparently, the board was customized
by Baker Audio in Atlanta. It is a stereo board...not dual mono. It does not
offer the ability to "key" the pots anyway but on or off (and only the mic
and remote pots have a key switch...the others have start and stop buttons,
with an "on" indicator lamp). The mixers (10) are pre-designated...that is,
the faceplate has the intended inputs "monogramed" on it...Left Turntable,
Left Cart, Left Tape, Control Room Microphone, etc.
