One of the stations at Boston's Needham antenna site (the one with
the candelabra) had a Collins. I believe it was WKOX-FM, Framingham,
before getting a dual city authorization as WVBF,
Framingham-Boston.They're now located on the Prudential Tower as
WROR. The FCC database makes no mention of a Boston dual ID.
I worked there when everything was located on Mt. Wayte Ave in
Framingham. They built a 500 ft tower next to the building. I think
it fell down at some point. With 12 bays you could almost hit your
head on the lowest one. I remember a 1Kw. Bauer for the AM but don't
recall if the Collins was ever in Framingham. This was well before
the other AM stations moved in and additional 400ft towers were
built. Only the little ranch house existed. Now there are many
additions to the building. The 1Kw. tower at 1190 was too short to
need lighting, as I recall.
