At least they weren't playing SFX of turbine whine. However, it did remind
me of Les Nesmith's chest-slapping "helicopter traffic report."
***************************
Many years ago one of our competitors decide to rent a copter for traffic
reports. We were using a fixed wing and they over a period of 6 months moved
two of our four major sponders. We dropped the air traffic reports and
started our "entertainment" Helivaacopter Traffic Reports, with Buss Lightspeed
pilot and reporter. Lots of helicopter noise always over road the details of
the traffic reports, which included the standard daily traffic ties up and
locations but the details were overridden by the engine noise. I have
forgotten the creative guy that wrote and produced these things for morning and
afternoon drive time. The other guys gave up after another 6 months. Our
reports gave the same trouble spots based on three years of daily experience but
no details and the pilot was a wild and crazy guy.
