It is worse than you state. Several networks are now scheduling shows at
odd times such as one minute past the hour. By doing so they not only
block out their real time slot but they also kill recording the next
slot which may very well be the competition. I guess the technological
response will be DVRs that can record more than two programs. 4 to 6
would be appropriate. Of course there is the sports factor that runs
over when it runs over. There is no legal means to control over time.
