That has been my experience too.  I'd be more than happy to  keep AVG Free.  
It works very well.  When ever I click on one of the  pop ups that says the 
free ride is over, it directs me to a page that gives me a  menu of versions I 
must pay for.  Obviously, more investigation is  necessary.  If it is still 
free, that makes subscribing to Barry's list  more than worth the time.  There is 
some great information here. Thanks for  the tip.

I just installed Avast in one of my computers, and it seems OK, but it  would 
be a lot easier to keep AVG.
