[BC] External HD converter affecting AM reception

Question for the group:

Has anyone run into a situation when an HD converter causes increased  
susceptibility to strong AM RF fields that result in reception  
problems when the radio is listening to another AM station? Neither  
station in the situation is running HD. The vehicle radio in question  
is an Alpine audio/video controller with an HD receiver module.
