Here are my comments regarding AVG 7.5.

I have been running AVG (and the "next to last" Version 7.1) in many
machines for several years. This, along with Adaware and Spybot S&D,
I felt, kept us in good shape.

In the last months, in most of our machines, I upgraded AVG from
Version 7.1 to 7.5. In the machines that I have upgraded, I have not
seen any problems.

However, a couple of weeks ago, I recently re-formatted the hard
drives on two Panasonic Toughbook laptops and installed Windows 2000
SP4 (with all Win 2000 upgrades and patches) on each machine.

The only other things that I installed on those two laptops were AVG
7.1, Word 2000, Excel 2000, Diskeeper 9.5, and the latest versions of
Adaware and Spybot S&D.

In checking out each machine - both worked great! I ran Adaware,
Spybot S&D and ran AVG 7.1 several times on each machine to make sure
that each laptop worked correctly.

Before passing out the laptops to our new users, I decided to
download AVG 7.5 and use it to upgrade AVG 7.1. After I did that, I
rebooted the laptops.

Unfortunately - neither would boot in the Normal Mode! Crud!!!!

I tried several times. However, each machine WOULD let me boot into
Safe Mode. A modern miracle........

I removed Spybot S&D in each machine and rebooted into Normal Mode -
Still no dice. I removed Adware and rebooted into Normal Mode -
Still no dice.

Finally I removed AVG 7.5 and rebooted into Normal Mode - Success!

I reinstalled Spybot S&D & Adaware and rebooted - Still Successful!

I sent them out until after Christmas without virus protection - by
then, I was tired of messing with them......

The AVG soap opera continues - the next edition follows.......

I've been running the free version of AVG but it ends soon to be
replaced by 7.5. I've heard some horror stories about AVG 7.5. I've been
told to look at AntiVir and some other, but some of the alternatives
don't offer automatic updates or automatic scanning.
Pray tell, what are the alternatives to Uncle Norton??
