[BC] Technology could spell the end for radio DJs

Randy,
That is the reason why my station is on Satellite with Dial-Global.
You have a live jocks, and still cost effective. Despite what some say,
YOU CAN make a station on satellite sound local. I do it. I have no
respect for station owners and managers just potting up the satellite
audio and walking away from it or just putting it on the bird, sort of
speak. That's just pure laziness!
The key is to have a good working relationship as an affiliate with
the network, and have the jocks at the network keep on doing fresh
liners, promos, psa(s), etc.

Scott

I understand how this might work with some formats, but one of the
things that VT has going for it is the
emotion of the live announcer. I can't see how a voice synth can capture
the inflection and passion of
a live person. I think it would get very boring to listen to after
awhile.

A local pop jazz station used liner carts and a few inserts. I found it
very stale to listen too. A year later
they either added VT or live announce and it made all the difference in
the world to the sound of the station.
It suddenly had personality rather than a cold juke box.

(Tom, I've been asking around about the Middletown station, but no one
I've talked to seems to know much
about it.)
