There are plenty of stations in the San Francisco and Los Angeles markets
processing HD properly (i.e. with separate, optimized peak limiting on the
FM analog and HD channels). I hear the biggest difference on hip-hop
formats -- the FM analog sounds dynamically flat by comparison to the HD.
When the HD kicks in, the drums and percussion start to punch -- you can
"feel the kick drum in your gut." This makes perfect sense -- the HD
channel has at least 5 dB less peak limiting on the drums compared to the
analog channel. I am hearing this easily on my BA.
