Back in my past, working the 100+ Dallas Cowboy Radio Network we sold  
stations ID's.
 
The standard cue "we pause 10 seconds for our station to Identify  
themselves....This the the Dallas Cowboys Radio Network"......Local on  KRLD......a 
local 10 seond spot for  A&A liquor stores that ended  with...."...KRLD,  Dallas".
 
We did the ID on the hour & half hour as close as possible.  
 
Today, I would assume that all networks would have tones with so much  
automation.
