After having read this whole thread... this one comment motivated me to jump
in with a very loud, long, hearty, "Amen!"
This discussion is here, in the BC Forum, because *many* of the folks here
*are* Hams. Of the few that aren't, many of them were put-off by the Morse Code
requirement. Now that that barrier is about to be removed, I sincerely
encourage every Engineer (and non-engineers, too, of course!) here to get your
ticket. Get some old beat-up but reparable tube transmitter going, build one, or buy
a good used or new Ham rig and light-up the airwaves. We need as many *good*
operators out there as we can get. There's no doubt that the folks on this
Forum would *easily* rank among Ham Radio's best of the best.
Go for it, guys. (and gals, too!) Those of us who have Ham licesnes would
gladly welcome you to the airwaves. :) To those with Daytime AM's, you can even
light-up your AM stick at night with the Ham rig, and *really* be heard! (Been
there, done it!)
Willie...
