[BC] Mexico remote

I did an article for Radio-Guide in the summer about remotes from Mexico.
First of all dont trust what they say about ISDN. Most of the time they are
referring to the INTERNET ISDN. I have always used Vectors and Hotlines
without fail. You may drop a call once but that was about it. For the
initial call I may have had to call a couple of times to get the best
connection. The power in Ixtapa was real good so I would assume a city like
Cancun is going to be just fine. Power is 120/60. Typically ungrounded.
I took all of the equipment with me on the flight. We had TWO morning shows
doing remotes at the same time. That equaled out to be about 17 cases of
equipment. Have people ready to help. I am sure Bob and Brian dont do any
lifting these days ;-) Perhaps their "people" can help you.
We used VoIP to communicate back to the states and it worked GREAT!
Make sure that you get to the Mexican Consulate in Chicago to clear all of
your equipment (you need a press passport) and do have your normal passport
ready. It takes TIME to get this done so contact them as soon as you can.
You will need to drive there to get the paperwork taken care of.
When you get back to Milwaukee, be ready for the US Customs Bozos to give
you a hastle.
Hope that helps. Do you need any help there??? :-D
