The "powers that be" seem to greatly underestimate the lengths to
which people will go to get an inexpensive copy of something they want.
Think of the bootleg videos which are made from someone holding a
camcorder up in a movie theater.  The quality is horrendous, but people
still buy and watch these bootlegs anyway.

And when it comes to copy protection of satellite radio, I'm sure the
Howard Stern fans will find a way to break it within a week of its
release.  Just look at what happened to DVDs -- the CSS copy protection
was supposed to be bulletproof, but a teenager cracked it, and since
then people don't give a second thought to copying a DVD for their
friends and family to watch.
